Charissa Kleckner

Grade Kindergarten- Grade 2 Teacher

My name is Charissa Kleckner, and I am very excited to be joining the incredible team at Roots of Resilience Charter School! I was born and raised in Edmonton and moved to Drayton Valley last year. I received my Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees from the University of Alberta. As a Métis woman, I am looking forward to being part of a community with such an intentional focus on Indigenous ways of knowing and being.

In my teaching career so far, I have worked with students from pre-K all the way up to grade 12. The bulk of my experience has been in Early Education and Primary Classrooms. My experiences in a classroom, both as a teacher and a student, have shaped my view of education and what it should be. In my classroom and in my life, I value kindness, mutual respect, discovery, and curiosity through questions. I am excited to work with my students and the wonderful team at Roots of Resilience Charter School to create an environment where everyone can feel safe to ask questions and excited to learn new things.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, as well as working on creative projects with my hands. I particularly enjoy beadwork and crochet!
