Glen Waskewitch

Elder

Elder Glen Waskewitch is a Cree Elder and member of the Onion Lake Cree Nation where he was born and raised. At an early age Glen moved to the Nordegg area with family where he met his wife Mary Crawler. Glen and Mary made their home and raised a family between the Bighorn First Nation and the Rocky Mountain House area where they still live today.

Glen is a well-known and respected pow wow announcer, epic golfer, Indigenous community advocate and has served as the President of the Asokewin Friendship Centre. He is a Mooshum to his many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and to many more traditionally adopted children in the community surrounding Rocky Mountain House. Glen is deeply committed to youth, education and community wellbeing and currently serves on the Elders Circle for the Roots of Resilience Charter School Society.
