Ron Taylor
Superintendent
Ron comes to us with a wealth of experience and passion for education. We are so honoured that Ron actually left his most recent position as the Director of the Indigenous and North Services Branch with Alberta Education and Childcare to be part of the establishment and operation of Roots of Resilience Charter School.
Ron states, "I'm thrilled to step into the role of superintendent at the Roots of Resilience Charter School. As a proud Métis originally from Manitoba, I made Alberta my home 17 years ago. I'm grateful every day for my incredible wife and our four wonderful children who continue to inspire me on this journey. I believe in children and that education provides a path for their success. Throughout my 30 plus years in education, I have been driven by a passion and desire to collaboratively develop progressive, transparent, welcoming, safe, caring, and inclusive school cultures in which student learning, success and acceptance are the priorities of the whole school community."
In his most recent role at Alberta Education his portfolio included supporting both Provincial and First Nations Education Authorities, Wildfire and COVID-19 Response, First Nations, Métis and Inuit Achievement, and In-Person Learning Regulation Exemptions. Before government, Ron held the position of Associate Superintendent with Northern Lights Public School Division with a diverse portfolio including Human Resources, Inclusive Education, First Nations, Métis and Inuit Achievement and Early Childhood Programs. Prior to coming to Alberta, Ron was fortunate to have held principal positions in a large school of 800 students and smaller schools of 60 students.
Ron notes, "My experience ranges from kindergarten to Grade 12, French Immersion and First Nation Schools. I am looking forward to meeting and working with our Roots of Resilience students, families, staff, and community.
