Mary Crawler
Elder
Elder Mary Crawler is a member of the Good Stoney Nakota Sioux (Stoney) in Treaty 7 territory. She is a descendant of Hector and George Crawler and Ta-Otha (Peter Wesley) having both Nakota Sioux (Stoney) and Cree heritage. Mary is the daughter of the late Rosie Crawler and Norman Poucette and is also a granddaughter of Isiah Crawler and Georgie Crawler, born and raised on the Big Horn First Nation in the Nordegg area. She was raised within her traditional and cultural ceremonies since childhood. Mary was quite the horseman and went on to help her grandfather Isiah Crawler with his guiding and outfitting business early in her youth. Today Mary is focused on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and is a valuable member of the Elders Circle for the Roots of Resilience Charter School Society.
